run for the cure
it is currently raining outside. But what a wonderful day it has been so far!
today was the run for the cure, the run to end breastcancer. And i ran in it! I know, i am very proud, but it is not the nicest of days, and i got drenched. i believe everybody did, but whatever. I got to go to my first run, and even though my foot is still beat up, swollen and painful, i walked the five km. Actaully, i jogged about a km with bri, who after some time was content to walk because of the vast amounts of people. We started to play a bit of a game as we walked: we tried to spot the lowest numered 'jersey' (the little peices of paper with a number that one pins to ones shirt). The lowest numer we saw was 64, and the highest was 10886. Which was just awesome! I was 4123, and i am keeping that in my grade 12 box! I know, sentimental me, I LOVE IT!!! MAHA HA HA HA!!! So, i happen to want to remember my grade 12 year. Who wouldn't ?
Anyways, off topic. We left home at about 7:40 am, a little earlier actually, and it usually takes abouy half an hour dad said. We got there at about 8:40, so that is much longer then it should have. it was because of all the people going to the run. It took us so long just to get towards the parking spots, which was a major pain. Then i had to find my group, which wasnt tooo difficult, as we knew which lamp post thing to meet under, and Sarah had made a huge yellow sign. Hard to miss actually. We were walking up to the starting line, and we realised that the race had begun two minutes ago. So, we decided the distance we were going, and who was running and who was walking. So, me and bri walked together. And jogged at times. And just had a great time. We saw so many funny little things along the way. One the that stands out in memory is that, as people along the route had dressed up their yards, there was one yard in particualr that was a little bolder. Using pink garbage bags (i have no idea how they got their hands on them!), they had used two and a bit to make the biggest bras i have ever seen. I mean, the braws could have provided cover to at least 6 people. AND THERE WERE THREE OF THEM!!!! It seriously made my day!!! And almost everyone was in pink, so i felt kinda out of it, but whatever. I'm writting in pink now!! MAH HA HA HA HA!!!
Anyways, even hurt i finished the walk in a littel over an hour. It was really neat. because some people who had already finished the race actually came back and stood along the side lines cheering us along. It was so amazing! I got soaked, even after a hot shower, a large bowl of hot soup, and a grilled cheese sandwhich, i am still cold, but i would do it again in a heart beat!!!!!!
